Mary Tyler Moore & Valerie Harper Interview - Part 2
I remember this promo back in 1995 when I was just two years old. 📺
I guess you had to have been so young that this is the theme song you remember, because I love it! It brings back memories of just me and my mom, before all of my four pesky sisters were born! Lol
Me neither
Harold Gould ( Martin Morgenstern) was a handsome Jewish prince. RIP
He was introduced too soon and left too soon. The writers played it very wrong.
Valerie Harper was beautiful inside and out. She was my boyhood crush. RIP Beautiful.
What an incredible array of talented and real people. Such a gift … I wish we had that in todays sitcoms.
I loved the Rhoda show!!
Llhllhbmb
I was expecting to see the Henry Winkler clip amongst the clips at the end
Three Sisters Tv Show Comedy
I love Rhoda TV show
Such a great cast and well written characters
The hat drop lol. classic.
I remember when this show debuted. Being MTM show watchers, this scene made us howl with laughter!
Where can I see the whole series?
What a beautiful moment in history.
I got so emotional when I watched this today. Such a wonderful show and lovely people. 💙💜
Me too! 🥹 I’m watching all the reruns
Loved Rhoda.
The writers got it soo wrong when they broke them up.
This series should be for "20th Television" for Disney+ if they need to upgrade it!
This was so lovely. I have been watching interviews, and and in some she talked about seeing these actors and talking to the studio heads on their behalf. She was humble as she talked about it.
The opening credits sounds similar to Meat Loaf's "I Would Do Anything for Love", but differently.
I watched the show a long time ago on UA-cam. I want more episodes of the short-lived comedy City soon.
Haha, you're right. I knew it reminded me of something when I listened to it. I was trying to figure out if it was a version of a pop song like Bosom Buddies used. This show came out 3 years before the Anything for Love song did. Its theme is credited to Geoff Levin and Chris Many, who don't appear to have any affiliation with Meat Loaf or Jim Steinman. So, at this point, it appears to be a coincidence.
@@jedijones Do you remember the track used for this intro?
What a cornucopia of acting talent from these two ladies! ❤ On top of that, Katey is such a wonderful singer (check out her covers in the soundtrack of Sons of Anarchy)
The woman with the garbage (0:40) is a terrific character actress, Bella Bruck. For fans of The Odd Couple (the one with Tony Randall and Jack Klugman, 'natch), she was in a few episodes, and even though her appearances were brief, she was hysterical. In The New Car, she as 'push over' Paige - who Oscar called to buy their car, and in Myrna's Debut, she was the woman who was her replacement as a secretary (she was worse than Myrna), and in Take My Furniture, Please, she shows up to but furniture in three middle of the night. Too any fan of that show, just from the brief descriptions, I KNOW people remember and are laughing.
Preacher has a boo boo, he said as long as you both shall love instead of live.. lol
5:43-6:28 Oh yesssss!! The one and only Lorenzo Music in his classic role as Carlton before he played Garfield. Jim Davis couldn't deny hearing Music's voice as Carlton as the right choice for Garfield. No one will ever do Garfield as good as Music ever did.(RIP)
sally interupted every word
Me Either
Rip 🪦 Valerie Harper
Everyone on that stage is dead now!
Is that Alan Young?
Saudades! As vezes me pergunto o quanto eles sabiam que eram pessoas influentes na formação de jovens que hoje como eu aos 60 anos hoje aprendi. 🇧🇷😍
AWESOME
I was thinking about what Valerie said that there were no female TV screenplay writers before "The MTM Show." Well, "I Love Lucy" had one female writer throughout the entire series run, along with two male co-writers, named Madelyn Pugh.
Especial day .29/12/1936 🇧🇷🥰
Valerie faked her own death and moved to the city and changed her name to Rhoda.
Valerie? As in Valerie Hogan from the show "Valerie"? or Valerie Harper herself?
Valerie Hogan - lol
♥️
🙏🏽♥️
I never knew that Ainsley had a show in the US. Apparently he made over 100 episodes, which isn't a bad run. He's much-loved in the UK for his energy and sunny disposition, as can be seen here.
Valérie Harper was very outspoken and outgoing, as well, while Mary Tyler Moore seemed somewhat kind of layed back and more quiet to herself, during the course of this interview. However, I definitely agree with Mary Tyler Moore, when she mentioned about these so-called insignificant stupid reality or game shows, during her statement, which has created such a sudden change, in the field of the entertainment world business of television, throughout the years and as we see it today. Thus! may! their souls rest in peace and thank! you so much, for bringing back these wonderful memories, from The Rosie O'Donnell Show, on the UA-cam channel. Johnny, from Montreal, Canada ❤️
Such a beautiful lady. RIP Valerie
I worked in the hospitality industry for years. Valerie Harper was by far the kindest, genuinely nice profesional celebrity I ever had met. ❤
Do you have more episodes of "City"? I would love to see them :)
Yes, however the program I have to convert them to digital no longer works. Some day when I have time, I'll try to do that.
I have 7 episodes of City, I will be posting them this weekend :)
@@The_Retro_Sitcom_Network Hi, are you still planning on posting some City episodes? It would be greatly appreciated!
I remember too. My sister would copy her look with a kerchief. She was about 17 or 18 at the time.
Liz Torres got so heavy over the years
Im still so sad Valerie only got to live to 80 yrs old she was so beautiful inside and out!😢💐⭐💕💕💕💕💕📺
80 is longer than most.
Would like to. See more episodes of this very rare sitcom if anyone has more. Please
I have to convert them to digital no longer works. Some day when I have time, I'll try to do that.
interesting: then Valerie started(?) lisping like Nancy Walker did during some also-years later interview the two dames partook along with Julie Kavner
When I was 17, I traveled to NYC to visit 2 schools. I was there for 4 days and stayed at a friend's apt while he was away. That friend happened to live in the same building (on the upper west side) as Valerie Harper. When I arrived, she and her daughter were also waiting for the elevator. They were very nice, and although the MTM show no longer aired, I knew it was Rhoda (Valerie Harper) right away. It seems her daughter, a freshman at college, was just coming home from school for the first time (and brought her laundry home too) - something Valerie joked about. We talked for some minutes while we waited (someone was moving that day and so I remember there was a wait). Valerie worried that I was roaming the streets of NYC alone and she invited me for lunch. I declined her offer, because I'm not sure I felt completely comfortable, but in retrospect, I always wished that I had. Her daughter also seemed very kind (and smart). They got out one floor below mine and Valerie pointed down the hall (in the direction of their apt) in case I changed my mind. But I didnt see her again until the day I left. She was talking to another resident (in the lobby) about a building matter I think, so I didn't want to intrude. But I did say goodbye and she asked how my interviews went and wished me good luck. But I was also impressed that she remembered so much from our brief encounter 4 days ago and that she readily interrupted her conversation to make sure I was gonna get home ok. I didn't end up going to school in NY, but my friend in that building died the following year (1999). I returned there for the memorial service and then a family and friends get together at his apt. I found out from the lobby staff that Valerie still lived there but were away that weekend. Too bad, cause she'd been so kind to me that previous visit, and I just wanted to let her know how much it was appreciated.
